Bali is a destination for every form of water sport under the sun thanks to its turquoise oceans and paradisal aquatic playgrounds.

Jet skiing, banana boating, wake boarding, jet packing, and other extreme sports are available for those with a craving for speed. And others who want to take things a little more slowly can don a snorkel and look for Nemo at some of the top dive sites in the world. Here are our top picks for Bali's best water sports, along with information on where to find each activity. I'll see you in the water!

WATER SPORTS IN JIMBARAN

Families may while away the hours swimming, surfing, and creating innumerable sandcastles with the kids in the picturesque, serene, and crescent-shaped Jimbaran Bay. Hire a kayak or stand-up paddle board from the beach and take to the lake-like ocean for a leisurely trip around the bay if the calm water calls. Here is the ideal place to learn how to surf since on some days, the ocean swells add some pleasant, gentle waves to the mix.

The best advice is to hang out until after nightfall when Jimbaran Bay comes to life with seafood barbecues on the sand. Instead, you may relax in style at the 57-meter-long infinity pool at Sundara Beach Club, which is located right on the ocean.

BEST FOR: swimming, learning to surf, stand-up paddle boarding

KUTA, LEGIAN & SEMINYAK WATER SPORTS

Kuta Beach is a mecca for surf schools because it is known for being among the greatest locations in Bali to learn to surf (and catch some major rays). For beginners, the beachfront "whitewash" all the way from Kuta and Legian to Seminyak Beach is the best place to try surfing, and we recommend Pro Surf School as your surf academy of choice - voted the best place to learn to surf in Bali for 3 years running. Kuta Reef is always pumping to some extent (and therefore not suitable for first-timers).

Watersport Bali

Apart from the main beach area, Kuta is renowned for its internationally renowned waterpark, Waterbom, which has consistently been ranked as Asia's top water park and Indonesia's top tourist destination. Together with a water slide playground, there is also a kiddie bungie, flow-rider, and water-blaster.

BEST FOR: Learning to surf and splashing around at water parks

NUSA DUA & TANJUNG BENOA WATER SPORTS

The preferred location for family-friendly water activities in Bali is Nusa Dua. In Tanjung Benoa, thrill-seekers can go jet-skiing, jet-packing, water-skiing, wake-boarding, fly-fishing, parasailing, and even on banana boats and donut rides for both little children and adults. If you wish to see Bali from the ocean, you may also hire snorkeling equipment, sea walk while wearing a spaceman-style helmet, or even take an introductory scuba diving course because the local waters are quiet and ideal for beginners.

Watersport Bali

Don't want to get wet. Go on a cruise in a glass-bottom boat to see the stunning marine life. Jet Set Diving & Marine Sports is our top choice since it is Bali's most upscale dive and water sports facility and has the best gear available, pardon the pun.

Watersport Bali

The Bali Wake Park, with its cable wake-boarding and inflated floating Aqualand for leaping, climbing, splashing, and sliding, is located at the tip of Benoa, up the coast. a fantastic day trip for everyone—families, day travelers, and water lovers alike!

BEST FOR: Sun-loving families and adrenaline junkies

THE BUKIT'S WATER SPORTS INCLUDE ULUWATU, BINGIN, AND PADANG PADANG

Hardcore surfers already know all about Uluwatu Bali and the sessions that take place there. More breathtaking beaches with white sand may be found in the Bukit than anywhere else on the island of Bali, including Padang Padang, Uluwatu, Bingin, Balangan, Pandawa, and Dreamland.

Watersport Bali

Pro surfers travel from all over the world to these beaches because they provide some of the best breaks in Bali and possibly the entire world. So, if you enjoy surfing, check out the waves in one of these stunning locations. If you're still learning, stay to high tide, tiny swells at Balangan because the waves can be big, heavy, crowded, and happy to dole you reef tattoos on tap. Or, merely take pleasure in the first-rate surf views from the pristine beaches.

BEST FOR: Surfing & beach hopping

EAST BALI & KERAMAS, WATER SPORTS

East Bali has the greatest concentration of dive schools in addition to some amazing diving locations. You'll find vivid reefs, amiable sharks, turtles, and wrecks from Sanur to Padang Bai all the way up to Amed and Tulamben. There are innumerable dive and snorkel places to explore under the sea. East Bali is a retreat away from the crowds for water sport fans searching for something off the beaten path because it is calm, secluded, and less populated than South Bali.

The surf crowds may be seen in Keramas, which is located along the same road slightly north of Sanur. Keramas, where you'll discover famed surf breaks where competitions are frequently held, one of our favorite Bali beach clubs, and black sand beaches, is where you'll find something extremely unique: night surfing at Hotel Komune! Providing a first-of-its-kind permanent night surfing installation, you can enjoy a few drinks while watching the local Boardriders clubs put on a show or, if you're feeling very daring, schedule a night surf and hit the waves yourself.

BEST FOR: Scuba diving and night surfing

BALIAN & MEDEWI: WATER SPORTS IN NORTH WEST BALI

Similar to the peaceful neighborhoods of East Bali, Balian and Medewi are far from the tourist trail yet are nonetheless easily reachable. These tinier Balinese settlements are found along the island's northwesterly sunset coast, which is bordered by deserted coves with palm trees and black beaches formed by volcanic ash.

Watersport Bali

This is the spot if you're searching for a casual surfing vibe. Travelers who wish to surf and experience Bali before the 1970s (i.e., before visitors realized how beautiful the island is!) frequently go there. Eat, rest, and surf again. Medewi is renowned for its extremely long left point break, which peels softly for hundreds of meters, while Balian, which breaks at the river mouth, delivers some remarkably consistent waves all year long.

BEST FOR: Surfing & escaping the crowds.

WATER SPORTS IN NUSA LEMBONGAN

Although built, Nusa Lembongan, a little island off the east coast of Bali, transports us back to Bali's heady pre-2000 era. It is one of the best sites in Bali to dive and snorkel because of its gorgeous, crystal-clear seas and some of the world's most diversified reefs. Here, you can swim with manta rays and, with any chance, see Mola-Mola, an incredibly rare "Sunfish."

Watersport Bali

In addition, there are three well-known surf spots that are appropriate for both beginners and experts, as well as huge water playgrounds, stand-up paddle boards, and kayaks that can be rented on every beach. If you don't like being in the water, you can also schedule boat trips to explore the nearby island. Our top choice for luxurious day outings on Catamarans and high-speed rafts is Bali Hai Cruises.

EST FOR: Everything. all water sports.

WATER SPORTS IN THE GILI ISLANDS

The Gili Islands in Lombok, which are three idyllic atolls about two hours by boat from Bali's east coast, are one of the most well-liked island getaways for tourists despite not being a part of Bali. You can find nearly everything here, especially on Gili Trawangan where the roadless sands are dotted with dive shops, SUP rentals, kayaks, kite surfing, and even parasailing. This place is a hotspot for water-based activities.

Watersport Bali

Although the surge can occasionally kick up, the seas here are tranquil and paradisiacal (formed by buzzing reefs and powder white beaches), making for a few small surf places. For those of us who envision a life as a mermaid in the afterlife, you definitely must try the Subwing, an island-first and enchanted means of gliding across the water with your own fins that resemble dolphins.

BEST FOR: Swimming, snorkeling, SUPing, and gliding like a dolphin underwater!
