Where to go for swimming, surfing, sunbathing, and living the island dream?

1. Nusa Dua Beach

Nusa Dua Beach is an expanse of immaculately white sand that never ends and is so pristine it almost seems manufactured. It abuts the resort district of Nusa Dua's beach, which is bordered by immaculate lawns and five-star hotels that have been elegantly protected by palm trees and organic building materials. In addition to being spotless and having calm waves, the beaches are also lined with family-friendly restaurants, water sports, and even a retail center. With so many areas to cool off and rest, it's the perfect location for a fun-filled family day out that won't exhaust the kids.

2. Thomas Beach

Though it's still one of the quietest beaches on Bali's Bukit peninsula (and perhaps the greatest beach in Bali! ), Thomas Beach is no longer a secret since a few hip Uluwatu restaurants developed at the entrance to this hidden cove. This quiet stretch of white sand beach, which can only be reached via a dirt road and a winding flight of stairs, is definitely worth the descent down the cliff. This is picture-perfect to a T, framed by blue waves and striking stones that jut from the sand.

3. Bingin Beach

Follow the small groups of Bali's cool population with surf boards in hand and naked, sand-covered feet, or keep an eye out for signs made of repurposed wood. Unless you know where you're going or who to follow, Bingin Beach can be difficult to find. This cliff-based beach is a favorite among Bali's sunbathers and surfers because of its ideal waves and tiny sandy coves for swimming at low tide. Although getting to and from the beach requires some level of physical fitness (there are unsteady, rocky steps from the top of the cliff to the sands), your efforts will undoubtedly be rewarded. Several inexpensive beach accommodations border the cliffside as well, making this a fantastic location for low-cost vacations or a simple blanket and a sunset. 4. Balangan Beach

Balangan Beach, which lies on the Bukit Peninsula in the southern part of Bali, is popular with surfers and those seeking a laid-back beach experience away from the hordes of touristy beach clubs. When sunbathers recline beneath the numerous lounge chairs and umbrellas that line the white sand beach, ocean babies can enjoy the blue seas. There are only a few neighborhood warungs providing home-cooked Indonesian food and icy cold Bintangs along this sleepy strip, which is still largely underdeveloped. Balangan draws surf-loving backpackers who prefer mellow tropical vibes to a wild party scene since it has amazing waves for both beginners and pros.

5. Padang Padang Beach

Perhaps you are familiar with this lovely bay from the well-known "Eat, Pray, Love" film, when Julia Roberts falls madly in love with her Brazilian hunk. You're likely to fall in love here as well, not just with the tanned surfer throngs but also with the serene cove-like waters lapping off the bright white bay, framed by striking rock formations and surrounded by waves of exceptional quality. Although though Padang Padang is a little beach located approximately 10 minutes north of Uluwatu Bali, the scenery is really breathtaking. The best time to go is just before daybreak when you can view Padang Padang in all its brilliant, natural splendour and before the crowds of tourists arrive in search of Ms. Roberts.

6. White Sand Beach

Inaccessible Pasir Putih, commonly known as White Sand Beach or Virgin Beach, is a beach that rewards the most daring travelers. It is situated on Bali's east coast, close to the settlement of Candidasa, and stands out due to its immaculate soft white sands that sharply contrast with its volcanic black sand neighbors. Follow the dirt road until you see the "white sand beach" sign, then turn left. You'll notice the line-up of neighborhood seafood BBQ stands (ideal for a lunch with a view of the ocean) as well as the calm, clear seas that make White Sand Beach a beautiful swimming location.

7. Gunung Payung

Gunung Payung, formerly known as Hidden Beach, is the definition of a paradise straight out of a postcard. Imagine a beach with fine, white sand, warm, tropical waters that are flat as a duck pond at low tide, and a lush, verdant background that gives you the impression that you are at the edge of the earth. There is now a smooth path carved down the cliff and even a shuttle bus for easy access, replacing the once perilous 301 step climb up and down (we counted). 8. Melasti Beach

Dreamland was once a well-kept secret, but now surfers from all over the world travel to this white sandy bay to enjoy the waves and beautiful white beach. Dreamland is your wonderland, where you may play in the sand, have a sunbath, or get involved in the watery action.

10. Nusa Lembongan

You may take a 30-minute fast boat to the neighboring island of Nusa Lembongan from Sanur's major harbour when you've visited all of Bali's top beaches, swum in all of its seas, and basked in all of its sunshine. Nusa Lembongan, Bali's calmer and lesser-known brother, is home to numerous breathtaking beaches that are still largely undeveloped. 11. Nusa Penida

Everyone has seen the famous photograph of the turquoise seas below rising to meet the emerald green cliffs. This Instagram-famous location is really on Nusa Penida, which is a neighboring island to Nusa Lembongan (above) and is only a short boat journey from the Bali mainland. Nusa Penida, which is far less developed than Lembongan, is only for those with a daring spirit. Anticipate winding roads, secret bays, neighborhood restaurants, and unspoiled vistas in all their unadulterated natural glory. Make time to explore the remainder of the island as well, including Crystal Bay, Atuh Beach, Diamond Beach, Broken Beach, and of course, Angel's Billabong, an infinite pool that was formed by nature and is tucked away in the rocks. 12. Suluban Beach

This idyllic location is the main entrance to the legendary Uluwatu surf break and is located just beneath the iconic Single Fin bar. The finest place for a secret swim is at Suluban Beach's low tide, when it becomes a truly hidden gem. The water here is as turquoise as they come, and it is surrounded by gorgeous, dramatic rocks. You'll need to descend Uluwatu's steps, make your way through several tunnels, and then make your way to the sand to reach this tiny slice of paradise. Remember that this swimming area is inaccessible during high tide, so be sure to verify the tide times before your trip and pack your swimsuits.

13. Blue Lagoon

Here, the name contains the key. The definition of paradise, Blue Lagoon is a clear, beachy bay with calm waters, white sands, and a palm tree backdrop on Bali's eastern coast. For those crucial vacation photos, the craggy hills and green knolls on either side of the lagoon wonderfully frame the bay. As Nemo is submerged beneath the turquoise ocean, snorkeling and diving boats are searching the lagoon for him. The humming coral reefs and teeming underwater life of Blue Lagoon are quite the contrast to the isolated sands and peaceful coves on the shore. Also, Blue Lagoon is situated near to the Padang Bai harbor, where you can board a boat to the Gili Islands, Nusa Lembongan, Lombok, and other destinations when you're ready to go beach hopping once more.

14. Sundays Beach Club

Sundays Beach Club at The Ungasan Clifftop Resort is tucked away in a quiet white sand bay with gorgeous turquoise blue waves and an offshore coral reef, making it another South Bali gem. This paradisiacal location is secretly tucked away at the base of a stunning cliff face and is reached through an inclinator that brings you straight down to this amazing beach club. Arrive hungry because you'll want to bite into the delectable island-inspired food here and stay until dusk to experience the enchanted beach bonfires. But make sure to allot enough time for some real water-based fun, including kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and snorkeling.

15. Amed Beach

Amed is unlike the conventional seaside view because of the dark beaches and towering volcanoes in the distance. It's still a goodie, though. Situated on Bali's northeastern coast, Amed is recognized for its spectacular views that promise awe-inspiring holiday photos. Amed is also home to one of the island's most colorful reefs, a coral garden that is as well-known for its color as it is for diving and snorkeling. A visit to the adjacent Tulamben to explore the submerged US Liberty Shipwreck, which is teeming with marine life and beauty, is frequently included in an underwater excursion at this location.
